2. How was Raggedy Ann created?
The story is that Johnny Gruelle's little daughter Marcella brought him an old rag doll one day in 1915. He drew a face with a triangle nose on the worn fabric and named her Raggedy Ann. About three years later, Gruelle, who was a cartoonist and illustrator, wrote a children's book about the adventures of Raggedy Ann in 1918.

3. Why is she called Raggedy Ann?
 Johnny Gruelle submitted his application for a patent for the doll's design.
 Then on June 17, 1915, he applied for a registered trademark for the name of Raggedy Ann. He had created the name "Raggedy Ann" by putting together words from two poems by James Whitcomb Riley, "The Raggedy Man and "Little Orphan Annie."
4. When was she entered in the Hall of Fame?
Raggedy Ann was recognized for her cultural significance and inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame, in 2002. She was honored because of the lasting legacy of this beloved doll.
