I was a elementary schoolteacher for 16 years.
I taught mostly first through third graders as well as remedial math for two years.
Teaching was hard...fun...nerve-wracking...exhilirating...exhausting...inspiring...and depleting-sometimes all in the same day!
One of my greatest teaching joyful moments came one year when my three of my third grade students won all the top reading awards. My goal was to teach good reading skills as well as to spark a love of literature that would undergird their life beyond my classroom.
Even though I am not in the classroom anymore as a teacher, I am so grateful that my own book, Cinnamon Annie Loves, could continue that mission to help develop children's love of literacy.
